Welcome to the homeplace I’m building on Substack.
One dictionary entry defines “HOMEPLACE” as: a person’s dwelling or the place where they feel at home, often rich in personal history and emotional significance. When I read this, it resonates. And that’s what I hope to build here on Substack—an online destination with all the feels of home, rich in personal history and significance. With any luck, you’ll kick off your shoes and be at home here, too.
I've spent many years home-keeping, while working, and even educating, from home. I’ll share what I’ve learned, through success and setback, about creating and curating the look and feel of an authentic “Homeplace.”
When you subscribe, you’ll receive a patchwork quilt of ideas and encouragement designed to help you build your homeplace no matter your family size or square footage. Each newsletter will include something from these categories:
Homeplace Decor
Backyard Garden
Working from Home
Homestyle Recipes
Homeward Bound Books
As a fiction writer seeking a home in the wide world of publishing, I’ll share my adventure with you—highs as well as lows—and excerpts from my novel in progress, “The Homeplace.”
So if you’re building a homeplace or searching for one, please follow along and contribute to the community. Let’s keep one another company on a journey toward HOME.
Subscribe to get full access to the newsletter and publication archives. Never miss an update—every new post is sent directly to your email inbox.
I hope you’ll become part of this community of home-focused travelers. Participate in the comments section, send an email, or pass along to others. I look forward to sharing my homeplace with you—won’t you share yours, too?
